Aradco Awarded ISO9001:2008

Wed, 04/01/2012

Aradco was recently awarded the ISO9001 certification for Quality Management Systems.

ISO9001 provides the requirements for a quality management system (QMS), which is a framework for an organization to control its processes in order to achieve its objectives including customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

We have proved that we have this QMS in place and we can drive results from regular customer feedback and management processes.

Computer-assisted translation

Thu, 02/06/2011

For the past 50 years Aradco has been at the forefront of technological developments in the languages services industry. Making your content available in every language and in every medium has been our hallmark. In keeping with this tradition we have been closely following new developments in computer-assisted translation (CAT) and are able to offer our clients the benefits of the latest technology.

While most of our translations are still carried out in the traditional way, high volume projects containing repetitive material can benefit most from the implementation of computer-assisted translation. The software allows us to leverage existing translations against new material, develop glossaries and client-approved terminology databases and create easily accessible archives for translated material. It has been developed to handle any language: from Western European languages to two-byte Oriental languages and right-to-left Asian languages. It also handles a large number of formats.

This set-up is beneficial to both client and translator as it encourages a long-term working relationship and ensures cost and time efficiency. Get in touch to discuss your translation project and we will tailor our solution to meet your requirements.

Japan Fundraising

Tue, 19/04/2011

Following the devastating events in Japan over the past few weeks, our Japanese department hosted a fundraising event to provide support to the people in Sendai, one of our colleague’s home town, which was one the areas worst affected by the tsunami and earthquakes.

They organized a tea party on Sunday, 10th April at our joint offices with our sister company Voice & Script International (VSI). Friends, families and colleagues pitched in by baking cakes, donating prizes and playing live music. The event was also generously supported by The Cake Committee and Postcard Teas

The day was spent eating cakes and drinking tea, catching up with friends and enjoying the sunshine. The raffle was held at the end of the day and the fabulous prizes included a Kindle, an Apple TV, as well as vouchers for a hairdressing appointment, personal training and several local restaurants.

The event was a great success. It was attended by over 220 people and raised £5,488. Every single penny was sent directly to the Miyagi Prefectural Government, which covers Sendai, Kesennuma and Minami-Sanriku. Our colleague Risa is going back to Sendai over Easter and plans to work as a volunteer. You can read more about the event, see pictures and learn more about her volunteer work in Miyagi prefecture by clicking here.

ISO9001:2008 Certification

Thu, 14/04/2011

Aradco aims to be ISO9001:2008 certified by October 2011.

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems and can be implemented in any type of business. It provides the requirements for a quality management system (QMS), which is a framework for an organization to control its processes in order to achieve its objectives including customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

ISO 9001 dates back to the early 1960s when it was first developed by the defence industry to ensure the highest possible quality control over this sensitive area of trade.

The first version of the standard was launched in the UK during the 1970s and was originally known as BS5750.

Today's version, known as BS EN ISO 9001:2008, places more emphasis on customer feedback and management processes.

“We are very excited with the progress and all our staff and top management are embracing the standard and looking forward to the benefits it will bring to the business.”

Aradco is currently in the final stages of implementing the principles of the standard and the first assessment is scheduled for early June 2011.
