Following the devastating events in Japan over the past few weeks, our Japanese department hosted a fundraising event to provide support to the people in Sendai, one of our colleague’s home town, which was one the areas worst affected by the tsunami and earthquakes.
They organized a tea party on Sunday, 10th April at our joint offices with our sister company Voice & Script International (VSI). Friends, families and colleagues pitched in by baking cakes, donating prizes and playing live music. The event was also generously supported by The Cake Committee and Postcard Teas.
The day was spent eating cakes and drinking tea, catching up with friends and enjoying the sunshine. The raffle was held at the end of the day and the fabulous prizes included a Kindle, an Apple TV, as well as vouchers for a hairdressing appointment, personal training and several local restaurants.
The event was a great success. It was attended by over 220 people and raised £5,488. Every single penny was sent directly to the Miyagi Prefectural Government, which covers Sendai, Kesennuma and Minami-Sanriku. Our colleague Risa is going back to Sendai over Easter and plans to work as a volunteer.
